Bicyclist Seriously Injured In Route 1 Hit-Run Involving Pickup Truck

Police are asking for the public's help in locating a pickup truck that struck a bicyclist and then fled the scene.

The incident took place around 8:20 a.m. Sunday on Route 1, in Branford, said the Branford Police Department on Facebook.

According to police, a white Ford Super Duty pickup truck driven by a white male struck the bicyclist near the intersection of Route 1 and Featherbed Lane.

The driver then fled eastbound on Route 1. The bicyclist was seriously injured and transported to the hospital for treatment, the department said.

The pickup has damage to the passenger side headlight assembly area, they added.

The Branford Police Department is investigating the incident in conjunction with the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit. They are asking the public for help in an attempt to locate the vehicle and driver.
